Couple hours after work

So i finished work a few hours early and decided that a couple hours fishing was needed I had my lure rods in the car and after speaking to Mike Cootes aka purple peanut the night before about his recent Blog  and catches in this local stretch I decided to see if I could catch myself a perch or 2 on lures. I had yet to catch a fish on my new lure setup a shimano yasei 3-12g rod with a daiwa ninja 1500 reel loaded with 10lb bright yellow braid. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and not another person was insight as I scrambled down the side of a bridge to the river. You have to be careful here as it is very steep. But once you are down its like you are in the middle of nowhere. Bliss. Evening on the yarrow

Managed to get a couple hours pass in the evening to go fishing so I grabbed my float rod and managed to get to the tackle shop for some maggots before it closed. I had already decided I was going to fish my local river the Yarrow on Chorley. I have only ever fished this river when it has been at normal water levels but today I knew it would be high as we have had a few days heavy rain. I had my swim picked out a nice deep glide on a bend just after some shallow fast water. I have seen lots of fish moving in this stretch. (not from same day I fished) As I got to my swim I confirmed my thoughts the river was pushing through abit. But not to much it was fishable. I chucked in a handfull of maggots and some mashed bread as I setup my rig and got it set running down the swim correctly.  I must of only had about half a dozen trots when the float buried and I was in.
